About Alicia
Hey, I’m Alicia Latoya.
Before anything else, I’m a bold child of God, guided by prayer, the Holy Spirit, and the Word. The verse I live and breathe is Matthew 6:33—it’s my daily reminder that when I put Him first and seek His righteousness, everything else falls into place.
Community Led
I’m a true extrovert, and people usually find it easy to feel right at home with me. I genuinely love people. I love listening to your stories, helping you see just how dope you are, and creating memorable cultural experiences that connect brands with real community.
That’s exactly why I care so deeply about the creator economy. Creators give us so much of their guidance, entertainment, and knowledge for free, usually starting out purely from passion and raw talent. They deserve to be rewarded for that value, and my heart is completely in fuelling the creators who just need that breakthrough.
Full disclosure: I am notoriously terrible at replying to emails and messages, so CHASE ME or send a voice note! AND when you catch me one-to-one? The chats are deep, I stay fully present, and you’ll always leave with a warm hug and the feeling that we’ve truly connected. I’m all about meaningful, deep relationships that yield massive impact—because real partnerships take time. If that resonates with you, let’s connect.
My ultimate goal? Making sure underrepresented creators don’t just exist in the creator economy, they thrive in it.
6 years ago, I founded Black Create Connect, a community that’s grown to over 30,000 online. We’ve brought 7,000+ creators together across 40+ in-person creator events to find their people and their confidence. Everything I do is about getting talented individuals into the rooms, the paid work, and the spaces they deserve, whether that’s taking creators to Cannes Lions or hosting a creativity trip to Marrakesh with Canva.
When I’m not running Black Create Connect, I’m working my 9-5 which feels like my 5-9. My full time job consists of me leading community and brand partnerships at FiveTwoNine (collaborating with brands like Adobe, BBC Studios, Pinterest and more).
I’m also always sharing my voice, I have a 5 star rated podcast ( we got to 107 episodes, yes I will revisit but at the right time, podcasts are great but hard work) I’m used to speaking on stages I’m a TEDx speaker, delivered training and talks on culture, community and inclusive marketing and I’m always willing to share what I’m learning in multiple forums.
I know from experience that talent is never the issue; it’s all about access. I'm here to change that, one open door at a time.
